Joseph Frigo

EDUCATION

M.A. Teaching for Social Justice, Marlboro College

M.S. Conservation Biology, Antioch University

B.S. Environmental Studies, Keene State College

Mr. Frigo joined the Mountain School at Winhall in 2023 as the Assistant Head of School and Upper School Math and Science Teacher.

After completing an M.S. Degree in Conservation Biology from Antioch University and working in fisheries science, Mr. Frigo found his love for teaching not far up the road from MSW at SMS and has since taught math and science in the Springfield Vermont Public School District and at the independent Shipley School outside of Philadelphia. In addition to his M.S. degree, Mr. Frigo also holds an M.A. in Teaching for Social Justice, and his pedagogy is centered around applying math and science as a tool of analysis for his students to discover the world around them.

Using these disciplines to analyze the world allows students to promote a sense of wonder and scholarship that inevitably helps to bring about kindness, community, and environmental stewardship.

When not at MSW, Mr. Frigo can be found skiing, climbing, hiking, and fly fishing in the natural spaces around Vermont he hopes to inspire his students to protect for generations to come.
