Her experience spans most aspects of independent school leadership serving schools in Vermont and Utah. Margaret is thrilled to rejoin the Winhall/Stratton communities.
Margaret grew up skiing and ski racing in Southern Vermont and attended Stratton Mountain School, where her deep love and appreciation for the area were rooted. She has worked with children in the area through the Bromley Outing Club, Stratton Mountain School, Rutland High School, and Killington Mountain School. She returns to the area, having spent the past 11 years in Utah. Part of that time, she took her career in education to build her own company and help pioneer the sport of obstacle course racing. Most recently, she has spent several years at Wasatch Academy, an independent boarding school founded in 1875, as the Director of Development and Alumni Relations.
Margaret's career in independent school education has spanned admissions, college guidance, development, program development, student life, fundraising, alumni relations, faculty and staff management, and coaching, to name a few. She recently concluded a two-year program through the Northwest Association of Independent Schools called Pathways to Leadership, which develops and nurtures female heads of schools. Margaret is a lifelong learner and looks forward to learning and leading The Mountain School at Winhall community.
Margaret has received international awards and recognition for her leadership. She helped found the non-profit ‘For Those Who Would,’ where she still serves on the board. Margaret is passionate about ensuring The Mountain School at Winhall is a learning community that fosters curiosity, community, and love for the outdoors. She is excited to create opportunities for The Mountain School at Winhall students to build closer ties to the local community.
When she is not at MSW, she is in the mountains skiing, rock climbing, mountain biking, or trail running with her fiance, Travis, and their two border collies.
